What makes our studio unique?

The studio is located in the East Bayside neighborhood of Portland, Maine, nestled amongst over 10 breweries/distilleries, and several art galleries. It is the largest studio in Maine, and can host large productions. And since the woodshop is on site, we can work with any set designer and build on premise.

About our studio

Maine Studio Works is a turnkey photo/video production and event space with two dedicated studios, a prop room, and a woodshop for custom set building. The total square footage is nearly 8,000 sqft, divided into Studio A, 1,200 sqft, and Studio B, nearly 6,000 sqft. Studio A has a dedicated entrance, private bathroom, its own 3-phase electric, and a kitchenette. Studio B has 2 bathrooms, dedicated entrance, 8x8' window for north facing natural light, and a full kitchen with a prop pantry for dish ware, glassware, and smaller surfaces. Both studios have access to a loading dock for easy load-in. We also offer grip and lighting rental for on-site or location. We have capacity of 300 people for private events.

Shooting Kitchen description:

There is a smaller kitchenette iin the front studio with floating wood shelves, white backsplash tile, and maple butcher block countertops, as well as a dedicated fridge.

The larger studio has a fully functioning kitchen with gas range/oven, fridge, hood, backsplash tile, walnut butcher block countertops and walnut floating shelves. It also has access to "prop pantry" with a large variety of stem and dishware, as well as shooting surfaces, cloth napkins/table runners, and serving trays. The prop pantry is an a la carte add on.

Between both kitchen areas, is the prop room with additional shooting surfaces and backdrops for rent.

On-Site Rental Equipment description:

Each studio comes with 5x c-stands, 5x sandbags (25 lb), and 2x 1/4, half, and full apple boxes, as well as several v-flats and stingers.

Additional grip gear can be rented, as well as Profoto lighting and modifiers.

We also have z-racks, an Innovativ tech cart, steamers, and butterflies available for rent.

We are also happy to source additional lighting gear and grip and have it ready for your shoot and billed on a single invoice for ease.


Props range from wood and stone surfaces/backdrops, to painted backdrops, to small and large furniture pieces. We work with several prop stylists in the area, and can source additional items as well.


Each studio comes with a set of chairs and two folding tables, and a couch. Additional seating can be available depending on crew size.
