Terms and Conditions

To maintain the health and safety of The 1896 staff and our clients we are implementing the following guidelines for all staff and clients. Prior to your rental our booking team will be available to discuss our COVID19 protection plan and field any questions. The 1896 will do our part to make sure we are ready for you to work safely; however, we also expect every production to supply and enforce their own safety measures, and every person on set to maintain a sense of personal responsibility towards this end moving forward.

Please refer to the Media Production Guidelines for Employers and Employees issued by New York State.

Our Staff

• The 1896 staff are required to wear a mask at all times when in close proximity to clients.

Our Cleaning Routine

• The 1896 follows a 2x disinfecting routine: studios, hair & make-up rooms, offices, bathrooms and expendables are thoroughly cleaned with antimicrobial and antibacterial cleaners before and after every booking.

Screening

• Each shoot must implement mandatory daily health screening practices for employees, cast, crew.

• Screening practices may be performed remotely, before individuals report to the facility or location, to the extent possible; or may be performed on site.

• At a minimum, screening must be completed using a questionnaire that determines whether the individual has:

• Each shoot must require employees, cast, and crew to immediately disclose if and when their responses to any of the aforementioned questions changes, including during or outside of work hours.

• Shoots should maintain records that confirm individuals were screened and the result of such screening (e.g. Crew name / contact info / pass/fail, cleared/not cleared).

• Any crew member who clearly does not wish to comply with COVID protocol must not be allowed to enter the media production facility or location.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

• The 1896 suggests that all crew and talent wear face coverings within the location (including the Courtyard), provided the individual is over the age of two and medically able to tolerate such a face covering.

• Face coverings may be temporarily removed “during performances or rehearsals, or when it interferes with a core activity such as hair, makeup, or wardrobe.” Don face coverings as soon as practicable after the activity.

• Masks may not protect the wearer from the virus because they do not form a tight seal with the face, but they can reduce the spread of the wearer’s respiratory droplets to others.

• Production companies and Crews are required to provide their own PPE. Please refer to this document for best practices: NYPA's Anticipated NY Production Requirements & Suggested Practices. It is recommended that producers have at least 3 sets of adequate PPE on hand for each crew member for each day.

• Crew must be trained in how to properly put on, take off, clean (if applicable) and dispose of PPE.

Personal Health, Safety and Cleanliness

• Each shoot should designate a Compliance Assistant (person sourced by the production team, may not be the producer) to inform and ensure crew follows established safety protocols.

• All refuse, tissues and personal items must be discarded in trash bags/cans provided.

Social Distancing

• Each shoot should reserve adequate space for employees, cast, and crew to observe social distancing while eating meals.

Occupancy

• Occupancy per production will follow state issued guidelines.

Client Safety

• Each shoot must designate crew member(s) for day-of incidental and/or emergency cleaning, including constant wipe downs of high touch surfaces throughout the day.

• For multi-day shoots, production should develop a regular schedule of cleaning for all common areas to be completed by a cleaning crew, with each cleaning documented.

• To minimize contact with high touch surfaces during bookings, crews should assign one individual to be responsible for turning lights on and off, managing thermostats, etc. Only 1896 staff may operate the roll gates.

• Crews should provide their own disinfectant cleaning products. The 1896 will have back up available, quantity and type cannot be guaranteed.

Remember, public safety is of utmost importance right now.We thank you for your cooperation and look forward to having you back at The 1896! Have a wonderful shoot!- The 1896 Studios & Stages Management
